CAUTION: Due to the design of the wedge section, the bore and the clamp area cannot be modified.
NOTE: The allowable torques shown in the table are the calculated values according to JGMA Standards 401-01 and 402-01. The backlash values shown in the table are the theoretical values of a pair of identical gears in mesh. The values for slip torque shown were experimentally obtained by attaching the gears to a shaft (g6 tolerance, 0.4a surface finish). The surface of the shaft was wiped with a cloth to remove excess oil.
APPLICATION HINTS:
1. The slipping torque is affected by the fits and clamping surface conditions. Remove as much lubricant as possible, and use the same size shaft as the bore with h7 or better tolerances.
2. K-clamp gears are suitable for relatively small gears in light loads with the bore size ranging between 6 and 12 mm. The gear will slip on the shaft when the actual load exceeds the slipping torque. The use of a key in addition to the K-clamp is recommended for high-load applications.
3. The bore and the clamp area of the stock gears cannot be modified. Modified gears must be produced from raw material.
