| CAUTION: | When duplex worms and worm gears are set at the reference tooth line, the backlash is zero. |
| CAUTION: | Do not take heavy cuts when performing secondary operations on worm shafts to avoid bending them. |
| NOTE: | If the worm and worm wheel are assembled to the standard center distance, it is designated to have a near zero backlash (+/-0.03). |
| NOTE: | When the center distance is moved so as to reduce the backlash, V max is the maximum amount that you may shift without causing problems with gear mesh. It is not the recommended adjustment value. |
| NOTE: | Allowable torques shown in the table are the calculated values according to JGMA Standards 405-01 when the worm is rotating at 600 rpm. The table below shows the allowable worm gear torques at selected worm speeds. |
